Regarding the reproductive material, originating from the AHRU (Assisted Human Reproduction Unit) and the Cryopreservation Bank under the name “PRIVATE MEDICAL OFFICE IOANNIS GIAKOUMAKIS and ASSOCIATES MEDICAL LIMITED PARTNERSHIP”, located at the General Hospital of Chania “Agios Georgios”.

With the Decision No. 3453/2023 of the Supervisory Board of the Hellenic Authority for Medically Assisted Reproduction (Government Gazette No. 5466/B/14.09.2023) the operation of the AHRU company under the name “PRIVATE MEDICAL OFFICE IOANNIS GIAKOUMAKIS and ASSOCIATES MEDICAL LIMITED PARTNERSHIP” and the C.B. “MEDITERRANEAN FERTILITY CLINIC” was temporarily suspended, and the preservation of the reproductive material that was maintained in the Cryopreservation Bank, was temporarily assigned to the “Agios Georgios” Chania Hospital, under the responsibility of the Ministry of Health.
With the decision No. 1884/04.04.2024 of the Supervisory Board of the Hellenic Authority for Medically Assisted Reproduction, the licensed operation of the Assisted Human Reproduction Unit and the Cryopreservation Bank, under the name “PRIVATE MEDICAL OFFICE IOANNIS GIAKOUMAKIS and ASSOCIATES MEDICAL LIMITED PARTNERSHIP” has been permanently suspended.
The individuals who have cryopreserved reproductive material (gametes and fertilized eggs) are requested to contact the “Agios Georgios” Chania Hospital immediately in order to receive their material by June 30, 2024, since the Embryo Center at the Chania Hospital will cease to operate, in a reasonable period of time.
