Prof. Lambros Kotsiris, deputy chairman of the Authority, represented the Authority in the Hague Conference on Private International Law held on 15-17 March 2016. Among issues discussed was that of the Substituent Maternity. Prof. Kotsiris’ position was that the work of the Group of Experts should focus not only on the applicable law or the substantive provisions but mainly on how an identity is attributed to the child and also the answer to the question “who am I?”. In conclusion, the core issue that immerged to concern the Group of Experts was in fact the issue of one’s recognition of identity.
